3 THOUSAND AND 971 NEW KINDERGARTEN CLASSES FROM THE MINISTRY OF NATIONAL EDUCATION
The Ministry of National Education is taking new steps in an effort to expand preschool education. At the beginning of November, Minister of National Education Özer had given the good news that they will open 5 thousand new kindergarten classes in the second term of the school year. Within a month, the Ministry opened 3.971 new kindergarten classes. 74 thousand children enrolled in the new classes and schooling rate which was approximately 78 percent among the 5 year old group increased to 83 percent. The Ministry is aiming at increasing the school rate of this age group to 100 percent until the end of 2022.The Goal is to Open 10 Thousand New Kindergarten Classes in the Second Term
Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer made comments regarding the issue as, "We want to disseminate accession to kindergarten education for increasing equal opportunity in education. Within this framework, we will open 3 thousand new kindergartens and 40 thousand new kindergarten classes until the end of 2022. We have initiated and carried out this project with the support of Emine Erdoğan. As the first step of this project, we have started the construction of 100 new kindergarten buildings each having 12 classrooms in İstanbul. We will complete the construction of 1.000 new kindergarten buildings in İstanbul until the end of 2022."
Noting that they had also taken steps in November concerning new kindergarten classes, Özer said, "We had announced that we will open 5 thousand new kindergarten classes in the second term of this year, in other words in February 2022. We have opened 3971 new classes before the end of November. 74 thousand children enrolled in the new classes and schooling rate which was approximately 78 percent among the 5 year old group increased to 83 percent. We have updated our goal. We are now aiming at opening 10 thousand new kindergarten classes until the end of February. When we achieve this goal, our schooling rate among 5 year old groups will be approximately 93 percent.
