The delegation, led by Sofia Shakil, Director of the ADB's East and Central Asia Human and Social Development Sector Office, included Senior Education Specialist Eisuke Tajima, Education Specialist Lisa Lahalih, Senior Project Officer Sabina Yusufova and Consultant Damla Tunzer.
During the meeting, the process of Turkey's transition to a "regional member" status within the Asian Development Bank was discussed, and potential collaboration opportunities in areas such as education, infrastructure, transportation, environment, health, and finance in this new phase were evaluated. Following the opening speech of our Director-General, the meeting continued at a technical level.
Sofia Shakil, Director of the ADB East and Central Asia Human and Social Development Sector Office, gave a comprehensive presentation on cooperation opportunities in Türkiye, sharing detailed information about the financing opportunities and collaboration models offered by the ADB. After the presentation, the Ministry's DGs conveyed their priorities and project proposals, engaging in a reciprocal exchange of views with the ADB representatives.
This important meeting provided a productive ground for strengthening Türkiye's cooperation with the Asian Development Bank and for implementing joint projects, particularly in the field of education, in various sectors. In line with the outcomes of the meeting, concrete steps are planned to be taken in the coming period for projects to be carried out with the ADB.
