Association of Language Testers in Europe (ALTE) has 33 Full Member Organizations representing 25 European languages, as well as 68 Associate Members, 15 Individual Expert Members and more than 800 Individual Affiliates from around the world.

The Association of Language Testers in Europe (ALTE) was established in 1989 by   Cambridge University (England) and Salamnca University (Spain). The aim of this organization is to support the effective and reliable assessment of language skills (reading, listening, writing and speaking) in Europe and other countries. For this purpose, it is an organization formed by the organizations that conduct exams on language skills. ALTE organizes courses and conferences on the assessment of language skills and manages the quality control system of language skills exams held in Europe. ALTE has established a set of common standards covering all phases of examinations for the assessment of language skills. These standards can be applied to exams of any language and can ensure the quality of ALTE members' exams. Successfully audited exams are awarded the ALTE Q-Mark.

In summary, this institution ensures that the assessment and proficiency levels obtained by performing the language skills in the countries in accordance with the determined standards are comparable and internationally recognizable. For example, the IELTS exam to measure  English language skills is held according to the standards set by this organization and the results are accepted in all European countries.

In line with the targets included in the 2023 Education Vision document, our Ministry has been a member of the said organization since 2020.
