Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin attended the "Education on the 100th Anniversary of the Republic through the Eyes of Teachers Symposium" organized by the Board of Education and Discipline at Ankara Hacı Bayram Veli University.

"Education on the 100th Anniversary of the Republic through the Eyes of Teachers Symposium", organized in Ankara aiming to examine the current status and future of education in terms of teachers' ideas and to reveal the best contributions that can be made to the Century of Türkiye in education, has started.

Making a speech at the opening of the symposium, Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin said that one of the most fundamental topics for planning the 100th anniversary of the Republic is to evaluate the experience of the Century together with teachers who will build the next century and to plan the Century in the light of this evaluation.

Reminding that Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk organized a similar congress for the first time in 1921 to organize the intellectual part of the War of Independence after the armed part has won, Tekin emphasized that they took a similar step together with the teachers to build the next Century.

Tekin shared the following sentences of Atatürk from the congress held approximately 102 years ago:

"Therefore, when I talk about a national education program, I mean a culture that is free from the superstitions of the old age and foreign ideas, influences from the East and the West, which have no connection with our creation characteristics and nature, and is compatible with our national character and history because the development of our national prodigy can only be interpreted with such a culture." "An inattentive foreign culture can cause destructive results of the foreign cultures that have been followed so far to be repeated."

Stating that the signs of the future period are found in Atatürk's statement, Tekin said that they want to build a brand new Century based on their culture, traditions and past, through a national education program defined by Atatürk, in line with human nature.

"We will build unity together"

Underlining that the healthiest consultations so far have been the conversations they had in the Teachers' Room, Tekin noted that teachers shared with him the difficulties they faced and their special situations. Minister Tekin expressed that they have benefited from the ideas and opinions of the "consultation army" consisting of 1 million 100 thousand people.

Pointing out that there have been news of martyrs recently, Tekin drew attention to the contribution of the education community in the formation of national unity and solidarity. Minister Tekin stressed that they will build a unity and a generation that socially reacts to such events together.

Tekin expressed his condolences to the nation for the martyrs who lost their lives in Operation Claw-Lock region in northern Iraq and wished patience to their relatives.

Describing the Ministry of National Education as a family, Tekin stated that they strive 24/7 with all members of this family, to raise a youth who will build the new Century.

At the end of the program, Chairman of the Board of Education and Discipline Cihad Demirli, presented the regulation called "Darülmuallimin Nizamnamesi".
