MINISTER ÖZER SIGNED COOPERATION AGREEMENTS IN EDUCATION WITH AFRICAN COUNTRIES
Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer got together with his African counterparts during the 3rd Turkey-Africa Partnership Summit. The agreement was signed by Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer and Mauritania's Minister of National Education and Reform in Education System Mohamed Melainine Eyih at the İstanbul Congress Center.
Minister Özer said that development of relations and cooperation spirit with African countries is one of the main principles of multidimensional foreign policy.
"Improving relations with African countries is a success story of Turkish foreign policy," said Özer, "Africa Initiative Policy process has been successfully completed today and rapid improvements achieved in many fields varying from trade volume to political dialogue mechanisms and from education activities to economic investments."
Reminding that education relations between two countries was carried out in line with the technical agreement signed in 2005, Özer stated, "Previous agreements in education has formed the basis of our relations. New agreements will give us new perspectives and increase cooperation opportunities. Within this framework, I am glad to be here to sign the Education Cooperation Agreement that will carry our education relations to a higher level."
Özer expressed his wishes that the agreement will be blessed for all parties and it will reinforce the relations between two countries based on brotherhood and mutual trust.
Bilateral Meetings
Minister Özer had separate meetings with Djibouti's Minister of Education and Vocational Education Moustapha Mohamed Mahamoud, Sierra Leone's Minister of Technical and Higher Education Alpha T. Wurie, Niger's Minister of National Education Rabiou Ousmane, Somali's Minister of Education, Culture and Higher Education Abdullahi Abukar Haji, Ivory Coast's Minister of Education and Literacy Mariatou Kone and Congo Republic's Minister of Primary, Secondary and Technical Education Tony Mwaba Kazad.
Deputy Ministers Petek Aşkar, Ahmet Emre Bilgili, Sadri Şensoy, Director General for Religious Education Nazif Yılmaz, Director General for Vocational and Technical Education Nazan Şener, Director General for Teacher Training and Improvement Cevdet Vural and Director General for European Union and Foreign Relations Cemal Yıldız accompanied Minister Özer during the bilateral meetings.
Meanwhile, Deputy Minister Petek Aşkar had a meeting with Deputy Minister of Education of South Sudan Martin Tako Moyi.
Education agreement between Türkiye and Libya
Agreement was signed between Minister Özer and Education Minister of Libya's national unity government Musa El-Magrif.
Özer noted that Türkiye and Libya has 500 year old, historical and deep-rooted relations and said, "It is known that our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is giving great importance to relations between two countries. I would like to say that we are ready to cooperate in education for the establishment of a stronger Libya. I believe that we must prioritize sharing our experience in vocational and technical education."
Stressing that activities carried out in cooperation with Libya's national unity government will carry education relations between two countries to a higher level, Özer expressed his wish that the agreement will be blessed for both countries.
Özer added that relations between two countries based on brotherhood and mutual trust will become stronger in the future.
Meanwhile, guest Minister Musa El-Magrif said that Türkiye is an important country for the stability of Libya and they are open to make cooperation with Türkiye in all fields.
Minister Özer visited African Handicrafts Bazaar and Culture Center
Meanwhile, Minister Özer visited the exhibition prepared by the African Handicrafts Bazaar and Culture Center at the İstanbul Congress Center during the 3rd Turkey- Africa Partnership Summit.
Özer received information about the African Culture Center. Income of bazaar goes to African producers who are mainly women.
Özer also visited the exhibition of Sabancı Advanced Technical School for Girls organized at the İstanbul Congress Center.
