MINISTER ÖZER VISITS TURKISH SCHOOL IN QATAR
Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer, together with his delegation, visited the Turkish School of the Ministry of National Education in Doha, the capital of Qatar.After his visit to the Turkish Embassy in Doha, Minister Özer went to the Qatar Turkish School and made investigations there.
Minister Özer, who received information from the authorities about the activities of the school, met with the teachers and students and chatted for a while.
Expressing that one of the purposes of his contacts in Doha is to evaluate the capacity of the Qatar Turkish School, Minister Özer stated that they will try to transform half-day education into full-time education at the school.
After the teachers stated that they needed a kindergarten, music classroom and activity areas, Minister Özer gave instructions to the authorities to meet all their needs.
Stating that the number of kindergartens affiliated to public schools in Turkey was 2,782 until August 6, 2021, Minister Özer continued as follows: "In 2022, we set out to build 3,000 new kindergartens and 40 thousand new nursery classes; we gave the first start of the project to build 100 kindergarten in İstanbul, under the auspices of Emine Erdoğan. There are 147 public kindergartens in Istanbul. So there is no other choice. We put into service 112 new kindergartens, 8 thousand 145 nursery classes in 5 months, we made the tender for 264 kindergartens, and we included over 2 thousand 500 kindergartens in the investment program."
Pointing out that the Ministry of National Education has problems only with the land, not financial, Minister Özer said, "We will make all kinds of investments regarding the accessibility of the children of our citizens in each point of the Anatolian geography. By the end of 2022, by the grace of Allah, we will increase the level of pre-school education to 100 percent at the age of 5, from 35 percent to 70 percent at the age of 4, from 14 percent to 50 percent at the age of 3."
Regarding the demands of in-service trainings for teachers, Minister Özer said, "We will now include our teachers in Turkish schools abroad in the school-based professional development activities carried out by our Ministry."
